Athletics
The Athletics program at Beber aspires to bring positive recognition to each camper who participates in a sport as well as maintain a broad offering of programs to encourage interest in sports. Our athletic programs are built on the concepts of participation, effort, skill acquisition, integrity, and enthusiasm. By participating in a sport, campers are encouraged to achieve individual excellence and the esteem that follows as well as promote teamwork where appropriate.
We are committed to providing quality coaches and maintaining a reputation for innovation and progressive programming. We engage in friendly competition, with a focus and emphasis on campers developing and learning new skills while having fun. Athletic activities at Beber include basketball, soccer, baselball/softball, ultimate frisbee, tennis, archery, biking, yoga, gaga, and martial arts. Ethical conduct, teamwork, and good sportsmanship are always strongly promoted. We keep our athletic facilities in top shape and we are vigilant about safety to prevent injuries. Finally, we are committed to offering equal opportunities to all genders.
Camper Life Cycle
Makor: Entering Grades 2-5
First time Makor campers are given the option of coming to camp for our 2 week rookie program and can choose to extend their experience to 4 weeks. Please note, that after their first summer at camp, all kids must come for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Makor campers participate in all of the Beber Camp activities including our out-of-camp trips. As a division, they go to a waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells and campers who stay the full four weeks will also participate in a one night camping trip.
Kesher: Entering Grades 6-7
Campers in Kesher participate in a variety of camp activities that allow them the chance to interact and socialize with other campers in a supervised setting. In addition to the bunk and hobby programming, they also have several exciting out of camp trips. These include a trip to the Wisconsin Dells and an amazing choice-based three day/two night camping trip. The camping trip options include backpacking, fishing, rock climbing, biking, canoeing, fine arts and more!
Ramot: Entering Grades 8-10
Pioneer Program (Teen Leadership Program Year 1)
The Pioneer program is the first year of a two-year acceptance based program. The first four weeks, which take place at camp, focuses on leadership skill development, teambuilding, community service and further exploration of their Jewish identity. After the first four weeks, the Pioneers have the option of participating in a 3-week trip to Poland and Israel designed to strengthen their knowledge and connection to Judaism and the State of Israel.
CIT Program (Teen Leadership Program, Year 2)
Program for Campers with Special Needs
The program is fully inclusive and campers live in a bunk with all the other campers in their age group. This inclusiveness allows for an amazing experience for the campers who are disabled and non-disabled alike. It allows all the campers to achieve the ultimate goal of a safe and fun environment where they can learn valuable life skills and grow as people.
Inclusion campers receive one on one staff support as needed from a counselor who received intensive special training during staff week. At Beber Camp we pride ourselves on being a camp that promotes individual and community based growth and this applies to inclusion as well where programming is designed to increase independence and improve social skills.
