Good Day Sunshine

I need to laugh and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
I feel good in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day

Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine

Today was a fantastic day at Beber. Despite the forecasted rain, our "Beber Bubble" kept the weather at bay, allowing campers to enjoy a full day of hobbies and cabin activities under the bright sunshine. The weather was just perfect—not too hot and not too cold. It's hard to believe we're approaching our second Shabbat of the session and will soon bid farewell to our Rookie campers on Sunday. Time is flying by, and we're having a blast!

Campers relished a leisurely morning wake-up today after their exhilarating trip to the waterpark yesterday. They couldn't stop talking about the rides they experienced and how much fun they had hanging out with their friends all day!

I was called on to be a sous chef today for O1 challah baking. They are just having a great summer. They told stories of their bunk escapades, sang songs from the musical Matilda, and created unique versions of challah that matched their personalities. They are such a great group of young ladies, and I cannot wait to follow their journey here at Beber for years to come.

At GA today, one of our B’nai Mitzvah campers included interested campers and staff in her Mitzvah project of writing letters and cards to Israeli soldiers. Spread amongst tables on Hobby Wheel Field were cards, stickers, and fun markers, allowing them to create special, individualized letters to brighten the soldiers' day.

Meals:

Breakfast: Cinnamon Rolls and eggs
Lunch: Sloppy Joes and fries
Dinner: Lasagna and green beans

When lasagna is on the menu, campers go wild because it means they can sing the beloved "Lasagna" song, crafted by campers nearly 15 years ago. Here's a taste of the lyrics:

Lasagna, noodles and cheese,
Give me more please,
And some tomato sauce.
You are so yummy, in my tummy,
You make me so full!

At Beber, we embrace being cool, quirky, and everything in between—including singing fun, camp-created songs like this one.

Tonight, Makor campers drew on their knowledge as a group in a trivia night designed to test both their camp knowledge and worldly knowledge. Kesher campers burst onto the Olympic stage in a station challenge type evening program, complete with a torch ceremony and a giant replica of the Olympic symbol made out of hula hoops. This exhilarating program was a huge hit!

Ramot lit up the stage this evening in their highly anticipated talent show. Among the dazzling performances tonight and at Makor, Kesher, and TLP talent shows earlier this summer, division leaders will handpick the standout acts to showcase in the upcoming All Camp Talent Show on Monday—Beber’s Got Talent. I'm eagerly anticipating this event—it promises to be a highlight of the week!

The PIOs had a reverse talent show where the talent they performed on the stage was chosen out of a hat. This hilarious take on a standard talent show allows campers to be super creative and is always filled with a lot of laughter and cheers.

The CITs spent the evening preparing for their internship in Colorado. I am thrilled to offer this opportunity for them to grow as counselors in their experience out west, which I will share with you daily while they are away. I will miss them, but I know that this time away will create lasting memories for their group and be a highlight of their summer experience.

Tonight, I had a little late-night ice cream and Taylor Swift party with O1 and O4 at my house as an auction-winning event sponsored by Bernard Zell. We ate ice cream and shared our highlights of the summer so far, as well as thoughts of gratitude for what we have experienced.

So as you can see, it was a “Good Day, Sunshine,” and everyone is having fun!

P.S. Congratulations to the following who knew that Imagine Dragons sang “On Top of the World!”
