That’s What Makes You Beautiful

Baby, you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground, it ain't hard to tell
You don't know, oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful
If only you saw what I can see
You'll understand why I want you so desperately
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe
You don't know, oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful, oh-oh
That's what makes you beautiful

Today was a fantastic day at Beber, allowing campers to enjoy a full day of hobbies and cabin activities under the bright sunshine. The weather was just perfect—not too hot and not too cold. That’s part of what makes today so beautiful.  It's hard to believe we're approaching our second Shabbat of the session and will soon bid farewell to our Rookie campers on Sunday. Time is flying by, and we're having a blast!

Campers relished a leisurely morning wake-up today after their exhilarating trip to the waterpark yesterday. They couldn't stop talking about the rides they experienced and how much fun they had hanging out with their friends all day!

Hobbies were so exciting today as campers reached milestones by being able to slalom (one ski), successfully navigating the wind on a windsurf board, placing a work of clay into the kiln to dry, landing a tumbling pass in gymnastics and so much more. Our cast of the musical Frozen is busy memorizing lines, perfecting choreography, and preparing for their performance in a week and a half.

During the second cabin activity today, our Kesher and Ramot campers learned which three-day trip they would be going on. They met with their trip groups to play get-to-know-you games, discuss their upcoming experiences, and get excited about the opportunities ahead. Our tripping program is fantastic, and I cannot wait for our campers to have this experience.

Meals:

Breakfast: Cinnamon Rolls and eggs
Lunch: Sloppy Joes and fries
Dinner: Lasagna and green beans

When lasagna is on the menu, campers go wild because it means they can sing the beloved "Lasagna" song, crafted by campers nearly 15 years ago. Here's a taste of the lyrics:

Lasagna, noodles and cheese,
Give me more please,
And some tomato sauce.
You are so yummy, in my tummy,
You make me so full!

At Beber, we embrace being cool, quirky, and everything in between—including singing fun, camp-created songs like this one.

Tonight, Makor campers participated in a scavenger hunt around camp based on their superhero theme. It was incredible to see the bunks working together and having fun. Kesher campers burst onto the Olympic stage in a station challenge-type evening program, complete with a torch ceremony and a giant replica of the Olympic symbol made out of hula hoops. This exciting program was a huge hit!

Ramot lit up the stage this evening in their highly anticipated talent show. Among the dazzling performances tonight and at Makor, Kesher, and TLP talent shows earlier this summer, division leaders will handpick the standout acts to showcase in the upcoming All Camp Talent Show on Monday—Beber’s Got Talent. I'm eagerly anticipating this event—it promises to be a highlight of the week!

To round out this beautiful day at camp, I had a birthday late night adventure with G3. We did a spa night and sang a bunch of Taylor Swift songs. I love getting a chance to hang out with different bunks and see the joy that they feel just by being around their friends and having a great time.

Our PIOs had an educational program on Israel from our operations assistant who lives there.  They then created a new song and PIO cheer with Russell and ended their day at a Milwaukee Milkman baseball game.  So much fun!

P.S. Congratulations to the following who knew that Otis Redding sang "Sittin’ On The Dock of the Bay!"
