Keep on Movin'
Keep on moving, don't stop, no
Keep on moving
Keep on moving
Keep on moving don't stop, no
Keep on moving (ooh)
It's our time, time today
The right time is here to stay
Stay in my life, my life always
Yellow is the color of sun rays
Monday was certainly a “funday” with our second round of hobbies and a chance to be silly with a special Mustache Monday! Campers and staff donned stick-on mustaches for a fun photo op at the hobby wheel.
Today's cabin activities mirrored last week’s excitement, giving campers the opportunity to explore new experiences with their bunkmates. One of the highlights was a special activity led by Kym Bird and her mother, Cheryl Kaplan. Together, they have spent a total of 84 summers at Beber. They treated the CITs to a historical tour of the camp, complete with photos and stories dating back to their first summer in 1982. This tour illustrated how the camp has evolved over the years. The CITs visited parts of the camp they had never seen before and enjoyed listening to tales from the past, gaining an appreciation for the rich history and enduring significance of this special place.
As promised last week, here are some introductions to our Area Director team responsible for facilitating our incredible hobby program and ensuring the smooth running of programs throughout the summer. You can check them all out here.
Bob Goldwin - Hobby Director “Hi, my name is Bob Goldwin, and I am so excited to be starting my second summer as the Beber Camp Hobby Director. I am a 49-year-old elementary school teacher, basketball and soccer coach, but most importantly, husband to camp clinician Frannie and father to two wonderful daughters, Avery and Maddie. I am thrilled to continue working with the incredible campers and staff here at Beber, allowing them to customize a hobby program that challenges, teaches, and rewards them.”
Thom van Keeken - Challenge Course Director “Hi y’all. My name is Thom van Keeken, I am 23 years old, and I am from the Netherlands. This is my third summer at Beber Camp and my second summer as the Challenge Course Area Director. My first year at camp, I was a B3 counselor for both sessions and a challenge course specialist. I love what I do because I can watch campers challenge themselves and feel pride in their accomplishments.”
Hannah Harris - Arts & Crafts Director “Hi, I am Hannah Harris from England, and I’m the Arts & Crafts Director. This is my second summer at camp, and I’m excited to share new skills and hobbies with campers this summer. I love the creative possibilities of working with campers in arts and crafts and showing them how to make real works of art.”
Georgie Morris - Outdoor Adventure Director “Hello! My name is Georgie, I am from Scotland, and this is my third summer working at Beber. This year, I am the Outdoor Adventures Area Director. My favorite part about working in outdoor adventures is caring for animals and practicing survival skills on the trails in upper camp. I really enjoy teaching the campers about the great outdoors and how to care for a functional farm, including our newest addition of baby ducks.”
Sari Stinson - Athletics Director “Hi everyone, my name is Sari Stinson, and I am the Athletics Director this summer! I am from Vernon Hills, Illinois, and this is my 13th summer at camp. Being an Area Director allows me to create an environment that encourages campers to venture beyond their comfort zones while also exploring their competitive spirit. I am so excited for another amazing summer!”
Tomorrow, I will keep the introductions coming with the other half of our amazing team.

Evening Activities:
Tonight, Makor took the spotlight with their very own talent show, showcasing a delightful array of acts ranging from songs and dances to hilarious skits. It was heartwarming to witness everyone letting loose and showing off their talents in such a supportive atmosphere. At Beber, you can truly be yourself—cool, creative, and a bit wild—and your friends will be there every step of the way, cheering you on. Makor proved tonight that with over 30 acts, there is no shortage of talent among its members!
Kesher participated in a Shark Tank-style activity where they purchased items to construct their own unique carnival game and then presented it to the “judges” in hopes of securing investment for their innovative ideas. Ramot took their talents to new heights with a lip-sync battle, while the CITs challenged their teamwork and creativity skills with a program called Escape from the Island. PIOs used their smarts in a rousing game of Leader Jeopardy. All over camp, campers and staff were having fun and strengthening their bonds.
As you can see, we “Keep on Movin’” and all the while, creating memories that will last us the whole year.
P.S. Congratulations to the following who knew that Survivor sang “Eye of the Tiger!”
