Being Healthy At Camp

Being Healthy At Camp

Start your child developing some healthy life skills that they will use daily at camp!
  • Washing hands is a key skill for staying healthy at camp. Remind them to wash before every meal (and sing a song while washing for 20 seconds)!
  • Teach your child how to rinse their own water bottles with warm water every night (and leave the top open to dry out overnight) and then refill it every morning! Remember to send them with at least three reusable water bottles.
  • Help your child become an advocate for themself, make sure they know when they take medication and recognize what it should look like. Encourage them to speak up if they think something is not right. At Beber Camp, we want our campers to question adults if something does not seem right to them, especially when it comes to their own medical care and medication.

To avoid late fees, you must register with Pack My Rx and all prescriptions must have been received by Pack My Rx at least thirty days prior to the start of your child’s camp session. You must use Pack My Rx for all DAILY PILL medications, unless you have been approved by Trudy to use PillPack by Amazon.

Please be sure you have reached out to Trudy if your child takes any kind of “as needed” medication.
  • Melatonin may NOT be sent “as needed,” it must be ordered through Pack My Rx as a chewable or swallow pill and as a “bedtime” medication. Do not use the words “as needed” for any medication coming through Pack My Rx. If this is your child’s only daily pill, you may be able to use PillPack by Amazon, but for swallow pills only. Contact Trudy for more information.
  • Lactaid does not come through Pack My Rx, please contact Trudy for instructions on how to send Lactaid.
A few other medication reminders:
  • No Gummies, dissolvable pills or liquid medications are accepted at camp. Exceptions may be granted for liquids and dissolvables if there is no other alternative. Please contact Trudy to seek an exception. There are no exceptions for gummies.
  • Medications that do not come through Pack My Rx, must be sent to camp to arrive at least four days prior to session start.
  • Under Health & Wellness, you will find instructions for sending Medications Exempt from Pack My Rx. This includes creams, inhalers, oral contraceptive pills, nasal sprays, eye drops, epi-pens, injectable medications, powders and lactase.
Please feel free to reach out to Trudy if you have any questions about medications or health forms. She is happy to assist you through the process to help you avoid being charged for sending medication incorrectly.
