What Our Parents & Campers are Saying

“When we started to send (our son) to Hebrew school, he always questioned why he had to go because his father is not Jewish, he gave us a pretty hard time. His first summer at camp changed all that... I tell the story all the time, Beber made him proud to be a Jew. He stopped fighting us about attending Hebrew school, he embraced Judaism - his father and I both wanted that for him. So once again, THANK YOU, Beber.” “I have been trying desperately to hold off on writing this letter, until camp was over...but just cannot hold it in, any longer.

THANK YOU!!!
It is very difficult to find the words to express my gratitude to all of you. You have given (my son) and our entire family such an incredible gift. The look on his face in EVERY picture, EVERY day, says it all. He is not just smiling, but smiling with his eyes...and his heart...and the look on his face tells us that he is having the time of his life! (along with every other Beber camper!)

Starting way back when, during our very first communication with Beber, each and every member of your staff has gone above and beyond.... to ensure that every little question was answered, every little detail was taken care of, and that your camper's parents are as comfortable and informed as your campers are.

If you ever have a parent of a perspective camper, who wishes to connect with the parent of a first time camper, PLEASE do not hesitate to give them my contact info.

Although I cannot wait to get my hands on my son (11 days...but who's counting??) I am equally as excited to see you all, and thank you in person.

I wish you THE BEST time at Maccabiah, today! Enjoy the rest of 2nd session with the campers!
With much love and appreciation,

“Beber Camp's greatest strength is its ability to create a family atmosphere based on Jewish values. It helps children develop relationships with other children and staff members and feel a part of a greater community...Again, we love Beber because it is a small, intimate Jewish camp with a wide variety of activities. We also love that children come from everywhere and not just Chicago.” Anonymous Parent

“[The director's] enthusiasm and love of what they do pervade every area and every activity at Beber. When the [leadership] loves their job, the staff loves theirs and it can only make for the perfect atmosphere to grow, learn and have a good time.” Anonymous Parent

“My daughter has enjoyed her last 2 summers at Beber, and insisted on attending again this summer. She is determined to earn her five-year jacket. In addition, it is extremely important to us that [our daughter] attend a Jewish overnight camp. In this way, she can continue with her exposure to Jewish values and Jewish identity outside of our home.” Anonymous Parent

“We live in a community with not a lot of Jewish people. It is very important for us that our children have the exposure to lots of Jewish kids during the summer. This along with the fact that Beber has such great all around programming and opportunities makes it the right choice for us!” Anonymous Parent

“I especially liked the sense of community, team building skills and independence my daughter gains every year going to this camp! I also feel she has met kids that she will connect with later on, through high school and possibly college!” Anonymous Parent

“...I especially like the fact that Beber is not just conservative or reform but all denominations of Judaism” Anonymous Parent

“Dear Stefan and the entire Beber Camp staff,

Linda and I want to thank each and every one of you for making this past weekend so special. We did not attend camp and even though we have been involved with Beber for 11 years we really didn't get what it was all about until this weekend. You all made us feel part of the Beber community and understand what a special place it is.

[Our son's] first Bar Mitzvah was at the Western wall. In the presence of the wall we felt the linkage to Jews from generations ago. In much the same way we felt this connection at Beber where you all do such a marvelous job of connecting the campers, counselors and CIT's to one another and to the legacy of the camp. It was awesome to see so many of [our daughter's] friends, who have been there with her thru the camper, cit and counselor years, now running the show. We were joined by a friend who was at Beber 30 years ago and now sends her two sons. She could still remember the service and most of the songs. Although much has changed I think a former camper could return to the present Beber and feel very much at home.

[Our son's] Beber Bar Mitzvah was a very special time for us and him. Towards the end of the party, when you sent Ramot home before TC (brilliant idea) [our son] came up to us and announced that this was the best party in the history of the camp! I know how hard you and the staff try to make everyday special for every child but on this one day you succeeded in making it extra special for one 13 year old "man" and his family. Thank you!”
