Judaics

We understand that every child comes to camp with a different Jewish background, from their observances to their family traditions.  This is why everything from services to Judaic programming is crafted in a way to make everyone feel comfortable.

Beber’s goal is to teach campers love and pride for Jewish culture, heritage and religion. Our counselors and staff are proud Jewish role models and help campers enjoy a positive Jewish experience in many ways. Every Friday evening campers and staff come together to celebrate Shabbat with services, a special Shabbat dinner, Israeli dancing and a song session. Saturdays begin with a service including Torah reading, a puppet show explaining the week’s Torah portion, and storytellers to enhance the theme. After services we enjoy lunch and then bunks engage in a discussion topic relating to the week’s theme and Torah portion. Shabbats are concluded with a beautiful Havdallah ceremony in our amphitheater.

Shabbat themes vary each week, covering topics such as family, religious traditions and observances, and Israel appreciation.  Services are led in a way to include all campers’ beliefs and observances.  This means we use a variety of tunes, songs and reading to help everyone feel comfortable.

The mixture of Beber traditions and Jewish religious observances helps get everyone involved in Shabbat.

What Our Parents & Campers are Saying

“Dear Stefan and Everyone at Beber Camp! I can never express my gratitude to all of you for what you have done for [my daughter] and me too! Her experience there is priceless and more important that anything she has ever done. The Director's Corner on the website allowed me to live vicariously at Beber Camp and for that I am grateful. The Jewish life…” Anonymous Beber Camp Parent
